Chase Young, PHD
Dr. Chase Young is a Professor of Literacy at Sam Houston State University and the associate director of the Teaching and Learning Center. A former elementary teacher and reading specialist, Dr. Young’s research focuses on reading fluency, literacy interventions, and effective instructional practices.
His work has appeared in top journals, including Reading Research Quarterly, The Reading Teacher, Journal of Research in Reading, and Journal of Educational Research. Dr. Young has authored numerous award winning books and articles, and he frequently leads professional development for educators across the country.
He is the recipient of several prestigious awards from international organizations, such as the A.B. Herr Award, and the Diane Lapp & James Flood Professional Collaborator Award. Widely recognized for blending scholarship with humor and practical application, Dr. Young is passionate about helping teachers bring research to life in their classrooms.
